Overview
Kurt D. Baer is a senior attorney with Michaels & May, P.C., with more than twenty years of active insurance and commercial litigation experience. Mr. Baer represents insurers in complex major insurance coverage cases involving construction defects, environmental matters and professional liability claims. Mr. Baer’s work also includes a broad range of commercial litigation, which recently has expanded to include defense of class actions brought under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. His past practice has focused on large loss property subrogation, first party property coverage disputes, product liability, breach of contract and warranty, mechanics lien foreclosure and brokers litigation. He has trial experience in both state and federal courts as well as experience in alternative dispute resolution through mediation and arbitration.
Education and Background
Mr. Baer graduated with Honors from IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law. He has a Master of Science degree in Journalism from Northwestern University. Mr. Baer received his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Lawrence University. Prior to embarking on his legal career, Mr. Baer worked for ten years as a writer and editor at a metropolitan Chicago newspaper.
