Overview

John M. Duczynski is a senior attorney with Michaels & May, P.C., has a general insurance practice which includes substantial experience in regulatory compliance, coverage determination and insurance policy and reinsurance contract drafting. He has defended insurers in claims dealing with hospital professional liability, and nursing and physician malpractice. He also has represented insurers as coverage counsel on not-for-profit professional liability claims. Mr. Duczynski has an excess and reinsurance practice which includes underwriting evaluations, management of individual claims and company claim portfolios, negotiation of structured settlements and bad-faith litigation, and has represented insureds, reinsurers, and court appointed liquidators in insolvency proceedings. Most recently, he co-authored “Coverage Under Traditional Policies For E-commerce Exposures: Advertising Liability; Property Damage Liability; Property Loss and Business Interruption,” for presentation at a Mealey’s Emerging Coverage Issues seminar.

Education and Background

He graduated, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 1976.
