Overview

Neal F. Thompson is an associate of Michaels & May, P.C. His practice includes the representation of domestic insurers, and he concentrates in environmental matters. Between 1981-1991, Mr. Thompson was in private practice concentrating in virtually all aspects of civil litigation connected with aviation and aviation insurance, including major air carrier, passenger and cargo liability, manufacturer’s and seller’s products liability and pilot’s and mechanic’s liability, as well as insurance policy construction, interpretation and application.

Mr. Thompson served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in DuPage County, Illinois (1991-2004). As an Assistant State’s Attorney, he prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases, at both the trial and appellate level, including murder, home invasion, reckless homicide, sex offenses, financial crimes of all types (embezzlement, insurance fraud, arson, and money laundering) and actions against public employees, including police officers and elected officials. He also supervised the Financial Crimes and Public Integrity Unit from 1996-2004. Mr. Thompson taught legal writing at DePaul University Law School and lectures at both the state and the national level on trial practice, reckless homicide prosecution and forensic evidence.

Education and Background

He graduated, cum laude, from Northwestern University Law School in 1981, and holds a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
